History: 1930 - Kyiv Institute of sugar refinery production (KISRI) consisted of 2 departments, chemical (sugar refinery) and mechanical (sugar refinery equipment) , where 400 students studied, was established on the basis of sugar refinery departmen ts of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and Kamenets-Podolsky and Smiliansky Sugar Refinery Production Institutes. Later, chairs of sugar refinery production of Kharkiv and Leningrad Technologic Institutes, Kyiv Confectionery and Fermentative Institutes, mechanical department of Voronizh Chemical-Engineering Institute, Mechanical department of Poltavsky Institute of Meat Technology and Department of Agriculture Mechanization of Bilotserkovsky Agriculture Institute formed a part of KISRI. 1935 - on the occasion of the 5 years' anniversary of its establishment the University was renamed into Kyiv Technologic Institute of Food Production (KTIFI). 1933 - Post graduate department was founded.
1934 - Research Sector for Alcohol Production started its work. In 1945 it was reformed into independent Research Institute of Alcohol Production. During the years of Great Patriotic War the Institute worked in evacuation, first in Voronizh, and later in town of Biysk in Altaic region. 1980 - KTIFI was decorated with Order of the Red Banner of Labor for merits in training of skilled specialists for national economy and development of science and in connection with the 50 years' anniversary of its establishment. 1993 - KTIFI was given a status of university and it was renamed into Ukrainian State University of Food Technologies (USUFT).
Today's USUFT is the only technological university in Ukraine in which training of highly skilled specialists of such educational qualification levels as bachelor, specialist and master in 25 specialities and 15 specialization for food, meat and diary, pharmaceutics and microbiological production and other branches of agricultural complex and food engineering of the country, conducted.
Educational process, scientific-methodical and research activity is provided at 6 its full time departments and three departments of study by correspondence. In 1998 Simpheropol Technical School of food production was incorporated to the University with a status of college.
