Ivano-Frankovsk - an administrative centre of Ivano-Frankovskaya area, significant economic and cultural centre of western Ukraines. The population of the city forms 270 thousand inhabitants (as of on 2004).In 1962 city has noted its 300 anniversary. He was renamed and thereafter carries the name of the prominent ukrainian writer and public figure Ivan Franko.
Ivano-Frankovsk - one of the littl cities, where everything hasn't changed much, in epicentre which - 49,5-metre town hall with gilded several years by back dome and Market area not far. On territory of the area live ethnic groups - guculy, boyky, pokutyany. Each of them has characteristic language and music particularities, architecture, customs.
Monuments of the city:The Town hall - 1871 , Cathedral with grave of Pototskiy - 1700, Jesuit roman catholic church and priory - 1715 (now uniat cathedral),Jesuit board, in which known polish poet Frantishek Karpinskiy stydied in 1750. , Armenian church (XVIII s., in it was kept honoured icon of Virgin mary, now in Gdansk) ,Roman catholic church and priory of trinitarians (XVIII s.), Roman catholic church of Christ Allcaptor 1927- at present single catholic temple in city.
