| 23.02.09 ukraine: a firm hope and a powerful word |
Pray for each student of CCX to cling to Jesus in these troubled times.
In Kiev, Ukraine, the gas crisis is the main topic of conversation. Apartments are cold – a serious problem in what seems to be a particularly cold winter. Inflation is very high, and while the value of the Ukrainian grivna is falling fast, food and commodity prices are rising swiftly.
An IFES staffworker writes: 'I don't know how people can live; you can really feel their difficulties. I ache for them and don't know how one can help.
Please pray that the gas crisis will be resolved.'It is in this context that students of CCX Ukraine (the IFES movement there) share the hope that we have in Christ, a hope that 'is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure' (Hebrews 6:19).
One of their main goals for the next five years is to increase their fruitfulness in reaching out with the good news of Jesus in a world that seems to offer only bad news. Pray for them as they work to understand the contemporary student context and meet its challenges in order to have a more effective witness in the university.
'Identity' is an evangelistic gospel distribution project designed specifically for university students. Distributing copies of Mark's gospel and effective follow-up on a national scale will challenge students to know and respond in faith to the powerful message of Jesus.
In this project, CCX Ukraine is partnering with the IFES student movement in Great Britain (UCCF) and the Ukrainian Bible Society. Please join us in praying for CCX Ukraine as they enter the preparatory stages of the project. Pray for wisdom, God's guidance and unity as they take it forward.
Pray for each student of CCX to cling to Jesus in these troubled times, and to have a renewed confidence in and love for God's Word, a Word that is effective and powerful to change lives.
